Excise Tax — UAE Tax Updates

Excise Tax applies in the UAE to goods considered harmful to health or the environment — tobacco and tobacco products, energy drinks, carbonated drinks, sweetened drinks, and electronic smoking devices and liquids. Introduced in 2017 and expanded since, it is administered by the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and affects importers, producers, and stockpilers of excise goods, including registration, stock reporting, and designated-zone rules. This hub follows Excise Tax developments as issued by the FTA (tax.gov.ae), and sets out what each change means for businesses dealing in excise goods.
